Iran: Young Man Executed for Alleged Sex Crime

(New York, Wednesday December 5, 2007) - The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) has learned today that despite an order by the Iranian Chief Justice to nullify his death sentence, Mr. Makvan Mouloodzadeh was executed in Kermanshah Central Prison at 5 a.m. this morning, Iranian time. Neither Mr. Mouloodzadeh's family or his lawyer were told about the execution until after it occurred. IGLHRC is still investigating the facts in this case.

"This is a shameful and outrageous travesty of justice and international human rights law," said Paula Ettelbrick, IGLHRC's executive director. "How many more young Iranians have to die before the international community takes action?"

Mr. Mouloodzadeh was a 21-year-old Iranian citizen who was accused of committing anal rape (ighab) with other young boys when he was 13 years old. However, at Mr. Mouloodzadeh's trial, all the witnesses retracted their pre-trial testimonies, claiming to have lied to the authorities under duress. Makvan also told the court that his confession was made under coercion and pleaded not guilty.

If I may be so bold to second that emotion, from my own essay:

Until about 100 years ago, almost all the Jews in the world lived in some form of the shtetl, or Jewish quarter, as they had for generations uncounted. As we all know, in the modern era of citizenship and human rights this undignified existence was rightly condemned as obsolete. But it is almost as if Jews haven't internalized that, indeed, the shtetl is gone. The Czar/Sultan will not protect us. And we fully have it in our capability to protect ourselves.

Sit back and watch this gruesome and hilarious pulverization of a cartoonishly psychotic Arab fascist, Ibrahim Al-'Aloush, by a modestly well-informed Kurdish writer, Shirzad Adel Al-Yazidi. JOOOOO-HATRED RUNNING WILD IN THE BLOGOSPHERE

I recently noticed some notorious Jooooo-haters on the Net spreading an apparently accurate, but very inflammatory story: that religious Jews in Jerusalem have been spitting in the faces of inoffensive Christian clergy as a gesture of contempt and insult. The story is being spread as a "news" article from Israel's notoriously anti-religious Haaretz newspaper.

At least 2 supposedly "repectable" blogs have published this "news" story, including:

These blogs, and any other sites not devoted to Jooooo-hating, would be well-advised to carefully check their "news" sources. As you can clearly read here, this story was reported (and last updated)by Haaretz on December 10, 2004...NEARLY THREE YEARS AGO.

Hardly "breaking news," Christian or otherwise.

It should also be noted that, even the Jewish offenders in these instances are criminally prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

OK, let's get this straight...The MILITARY PLAN of the world's 2d most populous Muslim state is to DELIBERATELY TARGET "populated areas" with "air power and artillery barrages."...No worries about "hearts and minds" here!!

And we can confidently assume that the air/artilery precision of the Pakistani military is not quite on par with our own, or Israel's...esp. in the craggy mountains and ravines of the Swat valley.

Yet somehow I doubt the United Nations will find anything objectionable in this plan...
