NBC'S MARTIN FLETCHER CROWNS HIMSELF "EMPEROR OF THE MEDIA IDIOTS"

"I'm so grateful my double lobotomy was completed last year."

From NBC Nightly News tonight (1/31), this eye-popping insight from the knowledgeable, suave, experienced, worldly, sophisticated veteran Martin Fletcher, whose wisdom is exceeded only by Christiane Amanpour:

"More troubling questions: Will Islamic fundamentalists, well-organized almost everywhere, come to fill the power vacuum, and, is that good or bad? Who knows?"

[WTF!!]

Uhhhhhhhhh....Marty....Have you ever heard of a gentleman named "Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini"? Are you familiar with what he and his successors have done in Iran, the Middle East, and the world, since they came to power? Or do you think little things like, ohhhhhhh, blowing up an embassy in Argentina and killing 29 and maiming 242 people is morally mysterious, hard to discern good from bad? How 'bout killing 241 Americans serving as peacekeepers--protecting Arab refugees, for gawd's sake. Was that good, or bad? Not to mention Ahmedinejad's nuclear bomb---yes, that's spelled B-O-M-B, not e-n-e-r-g-y-- program--not really sure about the good or the bad of it?

With "expertise" like this on display from the towering heights of modern journalism, it's no wonder America is about to sleepwalk into its 2d Middle East strategic debacle in 31 years.

The Odyssey by Homer, Chapter 21:

For long Odysseus stood with the bow in his hands, handling it as a minstrel handles a lyre when he stretches a cord or tightens a peg. Then he bent the great bow; he bent it without an effort, and at his touch the bow-string made a sound that was like the cry of a swallow.
