We all know in our hearts why Rudy lost. Consider:

Republicans admire and respect WORK; Dhimms admire sloth/welfare. Republicans despise sloth.

Republicans value a full, vigorous fight; Dhimms admire cleverness and shortcuts.

Republicans appreciate fairness; Dhimms hate fairness, and bend or run over the rules whenever they can.

Rudy openly wrote off THE FIRST FIVE STATES, because...well, because he COULD. And it would be to his TACTICAL ADVANTAGE.

I'm not a golfer, but I know what a mulligan is. Almost no-one has a problem with someone taking a mulligan in a friendly game. But imagine a bunch of Republicans were watching a big golf tournament, and one of the golfers declared he'd found a way to win by taking a mulligan on each of the first 5 holes...How would those Republican spectators feel about the "brilliant" strategy?

Republicans all honor "the man in the arena," as TR called him. Rudy's plan was to let the other men bloody each other in the arena for 5 fights, then charge in and slay the exhausted battlers. His plan was anathema to Republican sensibilities, hence his campaign's implosion. C'est tout.

Let's hope Mc Cain loses steam. I understand his psyche and I fear it. I understand the underpinning of his toughness in the Hanoi Hilton. It was a fear, a healthy fear to not shame his father, Admiral Mc Cain.

Mc Cain is a wounded, damaged warrior. His judgement is therefore suspect. He has demonstrated this in several ways, especially Mc Cain/Feingold.

I couldn't agree with my redneck friend more. McCain is indeed damaged goods. What a revelation when a tenured Senator admits he "doesn't know much about economics." We have allowed ourselves to be ruled by the ignorant who are oblivious to the law of unintended consequences. "I feel like I'm on crazy pills or something!" (Zoolander) or to make another movie quote: "A person is smart...people are dumb, panicky animals, and you know it." (Men In Black)
Hailing from Texas where we don't get to vote in the primary until March 4, it's like watching the Titanic hitting the iceberg over and over and over.

M&N, you have both hit upon key facets of the bizarre McCain syndrome, and the willingness of so many "Repubs" to be seduced by it...As I write this early in the AM on 2/6, it looks like he is sure to win Super Doomsday. :- (
